Why Are We Drawn To Certain Colors?

I have wanted to write about this for quite some time as it never ceases to amaze me how spot on it is with regards to our health.  What I mean by this is most of us are visually drawn to particular colors… We all have our FAVORITE colors that time and time again we reach for when we pick our clothing, jewelry, the colors we decorate our rooms with in our homes.  Truth is there seems to be a direct connection to why certain colors resonate with us and others don’t.

I for one am grateful that God when he created everything around us, that he chose to add color.  I mean think about that for a minute, what if ALL our fruits & vegetables were all the same color, what if all the flowers that grew were ALL the same color, the leaves on the trees, bushes, grass.  Colors do many different things aside from offering distinction and depth when we look at something, they have a soothing effect on our personal/physical state too.

When you connect colors with fruits/vegetables and even your color choices; if you think about what you may have going on either physically from a health/ailment perspective or emotional perspective you may see the connection.  Here’s a chart that I found at http://www.reikimassage.la/chromotherapy.htm

COLOR                                                               BENEFIT

RED ———————————————————Activates our circulatory & nervous systems.

STRONG PINK——————————————Acts as a cleanser, strengthening the veins & arteries

PINK——————————————————–Activates & eliminates impurities from the blood stream

ORANGE————————————————–Energizes & eliminates localized fat. Helps address asthma & bronchitis.

STRONG YELLOW————————————Strengthens the body & acts on internal tissues

YELLOW————————————————-Reactivates & purifies the skin.  Helps with indigestion & bodily distress.

GREEN—————————————————-Acts as a nerve relaxant

STRONG GREEN————————————–Provides anti-infectious, anti-septic & regenerative stimulation

STRONG BLUE—————————————-lubricates joints & articulations.  Helps address infections, stress & nervous tension

BLUE—————————————————stimulates muscles & skin cells, nerves & the circulatory system

INDIGO———————————————–helps address eye inflammation, cataracts, glaucoma, ocular fatigue or nasal bleeds

VIOLET———————————————–relaxes the nerves & lymphatic system.  Addresses inflammations & urinary illness

color healing

What studies have come to realize is that there is a science to using colors to adjust body vibrations to frequencies that result in health & harmony.  Humans need the sun’s light, which is broken into 7 distinct rays, to live.  If there is an imbalance in these colors within our bodies, it can manifest itself in mental or physical distress.  Each color possesses frequencies of a specific vibration & each vibration is related to different physical symptoms.  This is referred to as Chromotherapy  which works on various energy points to help your body re-establish its natural balance.  It accomplishes this via the full spectrum of visible light, each color of which addresses a separate bodily need.

Every single way our body is put together; by design is meant to constantly help us achieve inner & outer balance.  Think about that for a minute.  Our eyes are able to SEE in color, every function carries some sort of electrical impulse for any & everything to work, which in turn carries a vibrational stimulation to it.  Our five senses: See, Hear, Smell, Touch, Taste all work together using ALL  of these principles not just some of them.  Color is a huge participant! Don’t believe me, try living without a variety of colors.  Truth is even folks who are color blind can still see in reduced hues/shades, none sees completely  in black & white.

When you find yourself DRAWN to a particular color family, refer back to the chart description above and see if physically you may be weak.

If you are drawn to reds is there something going on with your circulatory system? Strong pinks, do you have spider veins, or varicose veins?  Oranges do you have lung weakness, and or cellulite issues?

colory therapy

I remember after my mom passed away back in 2005, I never completely understood what “depression” could do to a body physically, I never struggled with depression before and let me tell you what, I lost my appetite, felt like there was a rock in my throat so food didn’t want to go down, I lost a tremendous amount of weight in a very short period of time, my weight landed at 89 lbs. for several months.  I craved straight carrot juice, in fact that was all I could swallow so I drank it all day long.

Without realizing it I began to transform my wardrobe, and began wearing, Greens, yellows, purples (which I was NEVER drawn to ever)  I was always drawn to earth tone colors so for anything purple to end up in my wardrobe was crazy.  I ended up painting the walls in my bedroom at the time to a yellow earth tone.  So looking back I realize that my body was craving the colors it knew would help offer me some visual/vibrational balance.

Truth is most people if they pay attention to any major health scare, or the loss of a loved one, or major life change, like job loss; they will find they probably made major changes in the colors they surrounded themselves with, and particular color of foods they found themselves drawn to, especially if those choices were totally out of their normal routines.

8 colors

I had a patient I was working with who had been attacked in a parking garage while leaving work, she had been beaten and raped.  It was her husband who pointed out during one of our consultations that she had changed almost her entire wardrobe to where the only colors she wore were Red (which also signifies strength and fire), Pinks, which again is affiliated with strengthening, and cleaning ( trying to put the incident behind her), loud yellows, in fact with the exception of pink, her whole wardrobe switched to almost all LOUD primary colors.  Where her wardrobe typically before consisted of blacks, tans and very light colored neutral clothing.  Her husband mentioned it because he felt she was just using the “spending” as a diversion.  What I suggested was it was her inner self crying out and wanting to send out the signal of STRENGTH & PURGING.  I also recommended she take some self-defense classes.

Truth is we all subconsciously make these changes and most of us just don’t pay much attention to the “why” we changed what we were drawn too.

chromotherapy

I thought this was something interesting and fun to post about.  I sure would LOVE some feedback on this one if any of you have ever wondered why in what seems an all of the sudden moment you made major color changes in your lives, either through wardrobe, or how you decorated your home, can even come down to an inert longing to change the color car you drive.  This is cool stuff….

Until next time…. Stay healthy my friends!!!!

Differences Between Vinegars!

Let’s talk about Vinegar!
I’ve spoken before about how Vinegar can be “unhealthy”, but my reference being towards “white distilled” and to wine vinegars, in which the destructive nature comes from ACETIC ACID, which both distilled and wine vinegars have.

white vinegar wine vinegar and apple cider vinegar

PURE ACV (apple cider vinegar), on the other hand, made from whole apples and NOT diluted, contains the constructive MALIC ACID, which benefits the digestive system, and can be constructive in softening kidney/gall stones.

chemistry malic acid Chemistry of Malic Acid has 4 Carbon bonds, 6 Hydrogen bonds, and 5 Oxygen bonds!

White Distilled Vinegar rapidly destroys red blood corpuscles which contributes to anemia. It also interferes with the digestive processes.red corpuscles Healthy Red Corpuscles vs. damaged!

Distilled Vinegar is the product of fermentation by acidity of alcoholic fluids like fermented wine and malt liquors; these are known as wine vinegars and malt vinegars. The white distilled which carries a high acetic acid content is used a lot in our Country. The only thing I find it good for is using as a cleaning agent for the home.

But vinegar made from apples (ACV) contains MALIC ACID which is a natural element involved in the digestive process.

Vinegars made by fermentation of wine contains an average of from 3% to 9% Acetic Acid, and usually some Tartaric Acid too. Acetic acid has been connected to contribute in hardening of the liver (cirrhosis) and duodenal and intestinal ulcers.

liverHere’s the comparison between a Health, fatty & a Liver with Cirrhosis!

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR, on the other hand, contains Malic Acid, which is a constructive acid that combines with alkaline elements and minerals in the body to produce energy or to be stored in the system as glycogen for future use.

It helps in the coagulation of blood in establishing a normal menstrual flow, and contributes to  healthy blood vessels, veins and arteries, and the building of red blood.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

MINERAL BALANCE

One of the great virtues of ACV is its extraordinary potassium content, a must have for building and storing body reserves which contributes toward achieving harmony and calm. This potassium readily associates with some of the most important elements in the body, like calcium, sodium, iron, magnesium, chlorine, and silicon.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

FILTERED ACV

Its important, when choosing ACV, to consider the source, making sure its made from whole apples and not the cheap stuff made just from apple cores and peelings. Whole Raw apple cider vinegar with the “mother” which should look cloudy in appearance and a nice dark amber color. Will also have sediment and stuff floating in the bottom of the bottle! Also, never buy it in plastic containers, always choose one that is in a glass container.

Everyone should have a bottle of this stuff at home, its indispensable. It carries antiseptic qualities, works great as a skin toner, diluted with water and applied with a cotton ball directly to the skin.

___________________________________________________________________________________

VARICOSE VEINS

Years ago in Scotland it was used and maybe it still is common practice to shrink varicose and “bulging” veins by the application of ACV on the skin to the whole length of the veins, morning and night, for a month or so, and at the same time drinking daily; two or three glasses of water with 2 teaspoons of ACV in each glass. And it worked!

___________________________________________________________________________________

CLEAN BLOOD

Your LIFE is manifested in the condition of your blood which is generated in the marrow of your bones, activated through your spleen and circulated through your blood vessels.  It is a natural, systematic process that causes the blood stream to be completely recreated every period of 28 days, and unless the balance is maintained between the creation of new blood cells while the old blood cells complete their cycle, health cant be maintained.

_____________________________________________________________________________________

EXCESSIVE BLEEDING

Excessive bleeding with menstrual cycles, bleeding hemorrhoids, nose bleeds, cuts, etc., can also show signs of improvement by drinking 2 teaspoons of ACV in a glass of water daily and two or three times a day if necessary!

When our digestive system fails to digest proteins, it is a result of being deficient in hydrochloric acid.  This can, as a result, give rise to high blood pressure.  So consequentially one to three teaspoons of ACV in a glass of water, taken in the middle of the meal can  improve protein digestion and assist in balancing blood pressure.

What Are The Body’s “Energy” Generators?

mitochondria

Mitochondria are cellular energy generators that supply virtually all the power you body requires for a healthy life span.  There is an abundance of published studies that underscores the critical importance of the mitochondria to our overall health, especially as we begin to age. Energy-intensive organs like the heart and brain are dense with mitochondria.

Until recently, the only natural ways for aging folks to increase the number of mitochondria in their bodies were long-term calorie restriction or exhaustive physical activity which are hard and impractical for most people to pull off.

The enormous amount of energy generated within the mitochondria exposes them to constant free radical attack.  Which results in mitochondrial decay which is  really the a hall-mark of aging.

So how do we combat this mitochondrial decay? CoQ10, coupled with Resveratrol they are  highly potent antioxidants.  The molecular stability of these enable them to facilitate thousands of biochemical reactions in the mitochondria, without breaking down, for maximum antioxidant and bioenergetics support.

When we supplement with CoQ10 and Resveratrol, we are helping to activate genes that promote formation of new mitochondria and beneficially interacts with genes directly involved in our mitochondrial health.  These same genes also support a healthy body weight, normal fat and sugar metabolism and youthful cellular proliferation.

Mitochondria possess their own DNA, distinct from the DNA that is contained in the nucleus.  Unfortunately, compared to nuclear  DNA, mitochondrial DNA is relatively unprotected.  CoQ10 and Resveratrol because of  their  antioxidant potency, offers favorable gene expression to support mitochondrial defense.

VITAL PROTECTION FOR THE AGING HEART & BRAIN

heart brain

CoQ10 alone is an essential nutrient, meaning your body needs it to protect and support proper heart and brain function.  A growing body of research indicates that CoQ10’s unique nutritional profile supports heart health and cognitive function.

CoQ10 supports heart cell function in the presence of free radicals and promotes blood flow in the heart muscle.

LOWERS INFLAMMATION COUPLED WITH A Mediterranean Diet.

inflammation

A study described in the Journals of Gerontology Series A revealed that the addition of CoQ10 to a Mediterranean diet lowers a number of indicators of inflammation in older men and women.  Spanish researchers enrolled 10 men and 10 ladies who were not being treated for inflammation or elevated lipids.  The regimens consisted of a Mediterranean diet, a Mediterranean diet supplemented with 200 mg. per day of CoQ10 , and a Western diet containing high amounts of saturated fat.

Consumption of the Mediterranean diet was found to be associated with a reduction in the expression of a number of genes involved in the inflammatory process.

*Authors Jose Lopez-Miranda and colleagues write that, “In healthy humans, plasma oxidative damage may be partially prevented by CoQ10 supplementation, which has been replicated in other populations, like psoriasis and coronary heart disease patients.”

Also, to note that folks who are taking any cholesterol medications, should be supplementing with CoQ10 because these medications will lower the amounts of CoQ10 in their body, which increases oxidative damage especially to the heart muscles.

Keeping our energy levels at healthy production is key as we age, so why not incorporate CoQ10 and Resveratrol into your daily routine?

One of the company’s as a Practitioner that I endorse is Natures Sunshine’s brand of CoQ10,  and Resveratrol; if you are interested, you can go to http://www.harvestedhealth.mynsp.com and begin to improve your mitochondria energy support and function as well as supporting your body’s reduction in inflammation.
